Team veterans Edgaras Ulanovas, Arnas Butkevičius, Laurynas Birutis, Dovydas Giedraitis and newcomer Deividas Sirvydis visited Gijos Klinikos one after the other, where the health and physical condition of basketball players was traditionally checked.
“After the physically and emotionally difficult last season and the appearance in the Lithuanian national team, I first took three weeks to rest, and then I returned to training at the “Žalgiris” arena and started preparing for the new season,” said “Žalgiris” captain Edgar Ulanovas. – I worked both in the weight room and also touched a little basketball to improve my form step by step. When the whole team is assembled, really difficult endurance training awaits, where you will have to sweat a lot, but we understand that it is very useful for looking to the future”.
D.Sirvydis, making his Euroleague debut, is looking forward to the new season.
“I took a week to rest, and then I came to Kaunas and started working out with the physical training coaches of Zalgiris. Later, basketball joined. Now the last anointings are taking place before the joint start with the team. So far, we have been playing sports together with Lithuanians whom I know from before. We are waiting for the foreigners to come, with whom it will be interesting to get to know, and the whole environment and atmosphere will be new for me, so I am looking forward to it”, said D.Sirvydis.
A. Butkevičius, who will start his third season in Žalgiris, also appreciated the annual visit to “Gijas Clinics”, where the health of Žalgiris residents is carefully checked.
“We had a pre-season check-up where we check our muscles, our cardio, a full body assessment. This information is necessary for both physical training coaches and team doctors, who will assess how to further prepare us, what we lack and what we need to work on, – said A. Butkevičius.
Next week, similar tests will be carried out for the rest of the residents of Žalgiris, who will arrive in Lithuania in the coming days.
