BOLZANO. At the end of registration for the admission test for the first year of the degree course in “Medicine and Surgery” Bolzano, which ended last April 24th, were registered overall 441 registrations. At an organizational level, the entrance exam will be managed by the Università Cattolica del Sacro Cuore of Milan, promoter of the degree course together with the Province, the Claudiana University Center and the Alto Adige Health Authority. Classes will begin next autumn, after the necessary accreditation by the Ministry of Education and Research which should be completed in July. There are 321 students registered for the admission test, in possession of a diploma obtained in a European Union country, who are competing for one of the 50 places allocated to the EU contingent. Another 120 candidates have a diploma obtained in a non-European country; the remaining 10 places are reserved for them.
“We are very happy with the response we got. – underlines the provincial councilor for health prevention and health, Hubert Messner – Over a thousand prospective students had started the registration procedure, 441 of them finalized it. It means that there is interest in Bolzano. We expect positive impulses for the entire South Tyrolean healthcare system from the presence of a degree course in Medicine.”
The 60 places will be assigned based on the results of the entrance exam which will take place on May 18th, in computer-based mode, in various test centers specifically set up in Italy and abroad, including Bolzano. In particular, 201 candidates chose Bolzano as the exam location, 52 selected Milan, 48 Rome and 20 candidates requested to take the exam abroad (13 in Frankfurt, 5 in Zurich and 2 in Budapest). Candidates with a non-European Union qualification will not take the exam in person, but via proctoring, a system that allows remote exams to be carried out in a controlled manner. The data may still undergo small variations following the necessary checks on the requirements.
