Mediterranean diet against gastrointestinal diseases

by time news

With the summer heat, gastrointestinal disorders increase or worsen. Bloating, stomach ache, constipation alternating with diarrhea become the number one enemies of the holidays of millions of Italians. It is actually possible to combine taste and health. Rather, with taste you can protect or even improve your health. This is the central theme of the Consulcesi e Sanità In-formation project ‘Taste is Health‘. An initiative designed to train family doctors, nutritionists, nurses and other health professionals to reach the general population.

“Colitis, disorders of the hive, reflux, swelling are the indicator of numerous problems that can be managed with functional and biotyped nutrition – explains Serena Missori, endocrinologist, nutritionist and responsible for Gusto è Salute – It is important not to underestimate them and run for cover, because these symptoms are often the indicator of something more like hepatic steatosis, gastritis, irritable bowel, diverticulitis and other inflammatory and chronic intestinal diseases. Nutrition plays a key role in the onset of these problems “.

Taste is Health – reads a note – is a training project to update one’s knowledge in the nutritional field thanks to the collaboration between medical experts and professionals from the culinary world. The modality alternates theoretical contents with practical food preparation through videos and show cooking sessions, just like an episode of Masterchef. The Ecm-series consists of 5 courses dedicated to the right diet for hypo and hyperthyroidism, chronic silent inflammation, cellulite, food intolerances and gastro-intestinal problems.

To combine taste and health and preserve the culinary tradition of our country, it is essential to revisit the Mediterranean diet from a ‘functional’ perspective, introducing foods and wisely combining ingredients that can counteract the onset of diseases. Training plays an essential role in debunking some culinary myths and updating one’s beliefs. For example, that frying is bad and should be avoided. On the other hand, frying stimulates the secretion of bile and facilitates intestinal cleansing. Yet, oats must once again be the protagonist of the Mediterranean diet because it contains beta-glucans that promote intestinal transit and are good for the microbiota. IS to preserve the taste, consume dark chocolate and dried fruit.

The chef Marisa Maffeo, finalist at Masterchef, thanks to her past as a nurse, creates recipes for Gusto è Salute that perfectly combine taste, culinary pleasure and health protection on the guidelines of Dr. Missori.

The first 50 healthcare professionals who finish the course within 2 months will receive a healthy box with ‘functional’ foods and course recipes. A gamification initiative created by Consulcesi Club to encourage interaction and improve learning. Participants will be able to try their hand at cooking and concretely create dishes in which they will directly find that, in the awareness of what is good to eat and in the right interaction between foods, Taste is Health.
