Mediterranean Lions Clubs Conference: Heartfelt tribute to Khalil Hachimi Idrissi, former governor of District 416 Morocco

During this highly emotional ceremony, the “rich and exceptional” media career of Mr. Hachimi Idrissi, as well as his valiant contributions to the development of the national media field and the promotion of the influence of Lionism at the regional and international levels were celebrated.

Lions Club International President Brian Sheehan also paid a vibrant tribute to Mr. Hachimi Idrissi, also coordinator of the Global Leadership Team (GLT) of District 416 Morocco, by decorating him with the International President’s Medal, in recognition of his unwavering commitment to promoting Lionism and the services he has rendered to the communities of this movement.

In a moving and inspiring testimony, Moukite Abdou, former governor of District 416 Morocco, stressed that Mr. Hachimi Idrissi has always shown great loyalty, noting that his commitment, support and sincerity command respect.

“His kindness, sympathy and warm courtesy manifest a feeling of affection and an incomparable emotional relationship. Mr. Hachimi Idrissi has a lot of empathy and he is always there for others,” he said, stressing that he had the chance to know him in the 90s, upon his return to Morocco and since the first day, he discovered a man of great culture, a man of letters and a great journalist.

Mr. Moukite presented the key stages of Mr. Hachimi Idrissi’s unique professional career, stating that in the early 1980s he was one of the players in the creation and development of intercultural and community communication in France, where he worked in several radio stations.

Upon his return to Morocco, he was a columnist, senior reporter and then Editor-in-Chief for many years of Maroc Hebdo International, before launching the French-language daily Aujourd’hui Le Maroc (2001), he continued, assuring that Mr. Hachimi Idrissi has a lucid, fair and very formidable pen, without compromise or compromise.

“He values ​​others and does not take credit for their ideas. He advocates excellence above all and accepts no tolerance for mediocrity,” he insisted, affirming that Mr. Hachimi Idrissi does not use freedom of the press for self-interested purposes, and possesses all the qualities required to be an excellent journalist: curiosity, rigor, responsiveness, adaptation, listening, kindness and empathy are added to a spirit of synthesis, a solid general culture, a good level of French, as well as a sense of contact.

Mr. Moukite recalled that Mr. Hachimi Idrissi was also president of the Moroccan Federation of Newspaper Publishers and of the jury of the Grand Prix National de la Presse (2007) and is president and Grand Officer of the Compagnons de Gutenberg-Maroc, president of the Atlantic Federation of African Press Agencies (FAAPA) and Director General of MAP, noting that he takes his mission as head of institutional information to heart to engage the Agency in all kinds of new media, while allowing it to demonstrate creativity.

Writer and poet, Khalil Hachimi Idrissi has several books and collections of poetry to his credit, including “Billets Bleus, chroniques marocaines 1994-2000” published in 2005 by Eddif, “A la conquête de rien” published in 2011 by La Croisée des chemins, and the collection of poems “Subterfuges ou les détours des rimes rebelles”, in 2012 by Zanzibar editions and another entitled “Faith is only summoned on feast days”, published in 2017 by La Croisée des chemins editions, he added.

Mr. Moukite also praised Mr. Hachimi Idrissi for his social commitment within the framework of Lions Clubs International, stressing that “since the first day of his induction into the Club, he has immersed us in the heart of social action, with a real commitment of solidarity towards others, towards the weakest, most exposed and most deprived sections of the population.”

“He really dedicated a large part of his life to Lionism,” he said, noting that he was able to face obstacles and climb all the ranks, going through the presidency of the Casa Doyen club, to become zone president, then regional president and then governor of district 416 Morocco in 2010.

“Khalil Hachimi Idrissi shone when he was appointed GLT Leader. He put in place a strategy to quantitatively and qualitatively develop the training of future leaders of the District and to improve the influence of the lions at the regional and international levels,” he concluded.

In a statement to M24, the 24-hour news channel of MAP, the governor of Lions District 416 Morocco, Tarik Moudni, affirmed that Mr. Hachimi Idrissi, a member of the Lions Club for more than 15 years, has done a lot for this movement and fully deserves this tribute and this distinction awarded to him by the president of Lions Club International”, specifying that “all the great achievements that have been accomplished by the organization bear his mark”.

Held under the High Patronage of HM King Mohammed VI, this Conference, organized by the Lions Club International and the Lions Club District 416 Morocco, under the theme “Challenges and emergencies of the Mediterranean for the 21st century”, brought together more than 25 countries and more than 300 Lions, who debated several topics of common interest.

This two-day conclave aimed to promote friendship and mutual understanding among the Lions of the Mediterranean Sea, compare lionistic experiences and discuss themes and activities related to the themes of the association, and carry out common activities.
