Father’s Day is celebrated this Sunday, August 13th. The date reinforces the role of parents to the family, in particular, for the children.

The education and guidance of children in the upbringing process throughout childhood and adolescence is a major challenge for families.

Brasil Escola spoke with two parents who work as education professionals and who, based on their professions, encourage their own daughters.

Patrick Quadros, pedagogical coordinator

In greater São Paulo, Patrick Jonny Colman Quadros (38) works as the pedagogical coordinator of Poliedro Curso.

In the same school unit, his daughters, Pietra Borba (13) and Shophia Borba (10), study. Pietra is in the 8th grade and Shophia in the 6th grade.

Patrick comments on the importance of being involved in their daughters’ school routine.

Based on his experience as a pedagogical coordinator, the man from Mato Grosso do Sul encouraged his daughters to to adopt the habit of studying.

With that, the father established a structured routine, with moments dedicated to the study of contents and others to revision. The goals are well defined, and the educator highlights the importance of encouraging the daughters’ engagement in this process. “It is through the consistency of this effort that we reap the fruits of solid and lasting academic growth.”

According to Quadros, he uses his personal experiences as a parent and education professional to “make more assertive decisions and implement strategies that benefit not only my daughters, but all students”.

A study by the Federal University of Ouro Preto (Ufop), in Minas Gerais, shows that teacher parents positively affect the dynamics of family life and the schooling process of their children.

The baggage and experiences as educators help these teacher parents to develop profitable educational strategies for their children’s school life, concluded researchers Rosilane Oliveira and Marlice Nogueira.
