Woman with Longest Mullet Earns Guinness World Record Title

Tami Manis from Tennessee Sports Impressive 5ft 8in Mullet

Knoxville, Tennessee – A 58-year-old Tennessee woman has recently been recognized as having the world’s longest competitive mullet for a female. Tami Manis, a public health nurse from Knoxville, has effortlessly earned the title with her flowing mane, measuring an astonishing 5ft 8in (172.72cm). This length is nearly as tall as the average man.

Ms. Manis, who has maintained her hairstyle since the 1980s, drew inspiration from the music video for the song ‘Voices Carry’ by American rock band ‘Til Tuesday. Ever since then, she has refrained from cutting her hair, resulting in an impressive 33-year growth. Now, her remarkable mullet will be featured in the 2024 edition of the Guinness World Records book.

“The girl had a rattail, and I really wanted one of those,” Ms. Manis revealed in an interview with Guinness World Records. After initially cutting off her mullet in November 1989, she immediately regretted the decision. Beginning the following February, she dedicated herself to growing her hair and has refrained from trimming it ever since.

Popularized in the 1980s and early 1990s by icons such as Billy Ray Cyrus, Mario Lopez, and Patrick Swayze, a mullet typically features shorter front, top, and side hair paired with a longer back. Ms. Manis confided that people are often taken by surprise and fail to notice the true length of her hair until she turns around.

Ms. Manis attributes her incredible hair growth to good genes and the use of a conditioner infused with Argan oil. “It’s not always easy to manage,” she admitted. Given that her hair is longer than she is, she frequently braids it to keep it under control.

Before achieving her World Record title, Ms. Manis competed in the 2022 US Mullet Championships, where she secured an impressive second-place finish.

With her remarkable feat, Tami Manis has cemented her name in the hair industry’s history books and will serve as an inspiration to mullet enthusiasts worldwide.
