During the 19th edition of the Illustrious Guatemalans awardUniversales paid tribute to the winners who have stood out in various categories, generating development in different areas of society. Below, we detail the achievements of each of the Illustrious Guatemalans 2024, divided by category:
Social Category
Brenda Ramos of Quiroa She is the director of the Erick Quiroa Foundation and Home, recognized for its work with children and adolescents with terminal cancer. Her story is that of a mother who went through the loss of her son to this disease, finding her purpose in providing him with moments of happiness and fulfilling the goals of young people who are currently dealing with this condition. In addition, she has provided a home for hundreds of families of children, providing hope in this difficult path they are going through.

Waleska Soto She is an athlete specializing in Olympic trap shooting and hunting shooting, standing out for her achievements characterized by values such as discipline and perseverance. She has represented Guatemala in several competitions worldwide, making the country proud through her impressive dedication.
Scientific Category
Alejandra Paniagua She is a physician and researcher who has demonstrated a strong commitment to transforming mental health in the country, especially in vulnerable communities. She is co-founder and president of the Association for Mental Health, integrating psychological services and primary prevention in Guatemala. In addition, together with the Ministry of Public and Social Health, she has worked to develop accessible community care models.

Antonio Aguilar He is the founder of the company CASSA, a Guatemalan recognized for helping transform one of the largest industries towards constructions that are in greater harmony with the environment. Through CASSA, the focus is on building houses under four axes of sustainability: natural materials, solar panels, water and rain capture, and water recycling.
Artistic Category
Vinicio Quezada He is a pianist and arranger with an outstanding career in the artistic world of Guatemala. After a long career as a music producer for 25 years, during which he worked with some of the most important musicians in the modern history of the country, he is currently artistic advisor to the National Conservatory, where he teaches classes for children. He also offers courses in instrumentation, music and computing at the Higher School of Art of the University of San Carlos of Guatemala.

Despite a severe brain injury she suffered since birth, she has overcome great obstacles, not only thanks to the love and support of her family, but also because of the determination of the Guatemalan. Her message has inspired thousands!
Orator Category
Leonel Aguilar is a researcher who collaborates with the Artificial Intelligence Research Center, the Cognition Laboratory in Switzerland and the ETH research center in Singapore on the “Future Cities” project. The scientist was chosen by Universales to share his story and knowledge with the young winners of the National Science Olympiad, inspiring them to pursue their dreams and strive for their goals.
Coexistence for the Future of Guatemala
Likewise, Universales held the event «Coexistence for the Future of Guatemala»a celebration that recognized the young medalists of the XXXVII edition of the National Science OlympiadThis event is held annually to promote values of academic excellence in high school and secondary school students who compete in the subjects of Mathematics, Physics, Natural Sciences, Chemistry and Biology.
Forty students from different educational institutions, both public and private, were recognized for their achievements. The first places in the diversified level, winners of the gold medals, received a special prize: a trip to the United States to visit world-renowned universities, such as Harvard, the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) and Stanford. It will be an experience that will allow them to broaden their horizons and continue exploring possibilities abroad.
