(24 News) An important meeting was held under the chairmanship of Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif in which IT projects and measures to increase exports were reviewed.

Under the chairmanship of Prime Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif, a review meeting was held on information technology sector projects, implementation of measures to increase IT exports and digitization. For IT Shaza Fatima Khawaja, Deputy Chairman Planning Commission Jahanzeb Khan, Prime Minister’s Coordinators Malik Mukhtar Bharat, Rana Ehsan Afzal and relevant senior officials participated.

The meeting was briefed that the work on IT park project is going on fast, the Korean company has reduced the completion period of IT park from June 2025 to February 2025, 24 hours work on Islamabad IT park is going on. Yes, CDA teams are visiting the site regularly to monitor the work.

The meeting was also briefed about digital smart cities, the pilot project of digital smart cities is being launched from Islamabad, citizens will have easy access to 150 services through the Islamabad City Super application, government services through the mobile application. And administrative services including Capital Development Authority, Islamabad Police, Health and Education services will be available.

A further briefing was given in the meeting that thanks to government initiatives, IT exports have increased by 30% compared to last year, 3 lakh students have registered for training in IT skills programs in the last 5 months, 4 new incubation centers have been launched. Gaya, thanks to the government’s initiatives in the country, the production of mobile phones increased by 30% and the number of mobile users increased by 8 lakh, according to the Prime Minister’s vision to take Pakistan’s IT exports to $25 billion. All organizations related to IT sector are working together on projects.

The meeting was also given a detailed briefing on the investment in various projects of the IT sector and the step-by-step increase in the IT exports. 10 billion dollars from the country’s digital transformation, 2 billion dollars from the telecom sector, and 13 billion dollars in IT exports from government initiatives are expected.

The meeting was told that the plan to access all the services of the federal government across the country including financial, health, agriculture, education, administrative and security services to the citizens through mobile application is in the final stages. The performance of the month was also informed.

The Prime Minister issued instructions to complete all the steps regarding the IT sector within a specified period and to take steps to further reduce its construction period after consultation with Korean experts.

Speaking at the meeting, the Prime Minister said that the progress on the Islamabad IT Park project is satisfactory so far. The construction of the Islamabad IT Park will significantly increase the country’s IT exports. I-Park will be an important milestone to achieve the export target, encouraging citizens to use mobile applications for government services.
