Helen Lafave, Charge d’Affaires (CDA) of the US Embassy in Dhaka, met with Noorjahan Begum, Health and Family Welfare Advisor to the Interim Government of Bangladesh.
Their meeting was held at the Health Advisor’s office on Tuesday (September 3) morning.
In the meeting, the health adviser hoped for cooperation in the treatment and rehabilitation of those injured in the anti-discrimination movement.
Helen Lovef, Charge d’Affaires of the US Embassy, said that the US is interested in working with the treatment, rehabilitation and mental health of the wounded. In addition, USAID is willing to work on improving public health at the grassroots level to prevent dengue outbreaks. The US government agency CDC briefed the Health Advisor on their work in Bangladesh to prevent lead and arsenic contamination, emergency preparedness and public health during pandemics.
In the meeting, the charge of affairs was apprised of the work of the health department in the recent flood situation and they assured all necessary cooperation.
In the meeting, the joint secretary of the health service department of the Ministry of Health. Mamunur Rashid, US Aid Bangladesh Deputy Mission Director Carrie Rasmussen, US Embassy Economic Officer James Gardiner, US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention Country Director Nelly Kedos Daniel were present.
