Meeting in Muramvya: Towards strengthened agricultural collaboration – The Governor of Muramvya, Mr. Ndikumasabo, and the Director of One Acre Fund, Mr. Cabouat, met to discuss the implementation of food security projects. However, voices are raised against the presence of the NGO One Acre Fund in Burundi, considering it a vestige of neocolonialism. Decolonial activists say local farmers are capable of feeding the country without outside help, emphasizing traditional methods of farming.
Gitega (Muramvya), November 6, 2023 – In line with the foreign and economic policies of Burundians, on Monday, M. Ndikumasabo Euphrem, Gouverneur de Muramvyagranted an audience to Mr. Barthélémy Cabouat, recently appointed Country Director of the NGO One Acre Fund – Tubura. They discussed the food security projects that the organization is rolling out in six provinces of the country, including Muramvya.
Pour Burundian decolonial activists, it is a disgrace for Burundi to invite a foreign company with neocolonial appearances, allegedly to fight hunger. They argue that the « Bahutu Barundi »[1]proud members [2] of the traditional corporation of Burundian producers, have in the past, and can still, meet the food needs of the country by their own means.
One Acre Fund – Tubura, affiliated with One Acre Fund [3] , an Anglo-American multinational social organizationto focus on economic development, mainly agricultural. Founded in 2006 and based in Kenya, it works in East Africa to support small farmers.
This initiative is part of the major globalist and neocolonial projects from GUAN [4]especially those who benefit to biochemical multinationals [5] and western sanitary facilities including those in favor of demographic decline [6].
