CSE: Absolutely! The screening of the ‘2025 Vienna Philharmonic’ performance is part of our ongoing effort to bring world-class classical music to a broader audience. This particular screening will feature a live performance of the Vienna Philharmonic, renowned for its rich history and extraordinary talent. It’s an prospect for our audience to experience this iconic orchestra in an immersive setting.
TNE: That sounds thrilling! What influences the choice of works or composers that are showcased during such screenings?
CSE: Great question! We aim to curate a balanced program that highlights both timeless classics and contemporary works. Our goal is to create a diverse musical experience that appeals to long-time classical music lovers and newcomers alike. This specific performance will feature works that resonate with themes of hope and renewal, reflecting the spirit of the times.
TNE: in recent years, there’s been a surge in the popularity of classical music events. Why do you think that is?
CSE: the resurgence of interest can be attributed to a few factors. Firstly, the accessibility of classical music has improved substantially, thanks to digital platforms and events like our screenings.Secondly,many younger audiences are discovering the emotional depth and complexity of classical music,ofen through modern cinematic scores or collaborations with pop artists. We strive to create a bridge between different musical domains.
TNE: Speaking of accessibility, how does Classical Society plan to continue expanding its reach?
CSE: We have several strategies in place! Alongside live screenings, we are increasing our educational initiatives, such as workshops and pre-show talks, that deepen the audience’s understanding of the music. Collaborating with schools and universities is also essential to fostering a new generation of classical music enthusiasts.
TNE: That’s fantastic! It sounds like you’re doing notable work in music education.As someone deeply involved in the industry, what advice would you give to aspiring musicians or conductors who wish to enter the classical music scene?
CSE: Passion is key, but equally important is versatility. The classical music landscape is evolving, and being open to exploring different genres and forms of expression can be advantageous. Networking with fellow musicians and seeking mentorship can also provide invaluable insight and opportunities.
TNE: Well said! Before we wrap up, can you give us a sneak peek of any other exciting plans or events that Classical Society may have in the pipeline?
CSE: Certainly! We are exploring collaborations with contemporary artists to blend classical music with modern genres, and we also plan to host a summer festival featuring various international ensembles. Our goal is to cultivate a vibrant community around the love for classical music.
