After a turbulent year for the royal family, tensions appear to be easing ahead of the coronation. Prince Harry confirmed his presence at the event, which will take place on the 6th. His wife, Meghan, chose not to go, but says she wants their children, Archie and Lilibeth, to be close to their grandfather.
Despite the scenario seeming negative, a source from Sussex confirmed that Meghan’s decision is, in reality, a respectful measure to avoid further drama.
“She knows how the media works and really doesn’t want the reunion to be lived out in the public eye,” the insider said. “Meghan doesn’t want any more fights. She wants her children to meet their grandfather, Charles,” she concluded.
The former actress has been accused of trying to stir up drama within her family for many years. However, this statement was denied, as well as the alleged recent fight between Kate and Meghan, who would have been disinvited from the coronation by the Princess of Wales.
The duo doesn’t really have closeness, but Kate hasn’t banned the artist from any event. The choice not to attend was made by Meghan, who still thinks it is “too early” to return to socializing with the royal family.
The event will take place on the birthday of Meghan’s eldest son, Archie, who turns 4. She is preparing a big party in Los Angeles, where Harry must return, alone, right after the coronation.
Although Harry is trying to reconnect with his family, many of his relatives are wary. The reason is the exposure that the royal family suffered after a controversial book written by the duke and a Netflix documentary series, in which Harry and Meghan talk about moving away from real life.
