On the High Instructions of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, Supreme Commander and Chief of General Staff of the Royal Armed Forces, the FAR deployed two additional medical-surgical field hospitals (HMCC) in the rural commune of Mejjat in the province of Chichaoua and the rural commune of Ighrem in the province of Taroudant.

Coming from the High Solicitude, with which His Majesty King Mohammed VI continues to surround all citizens, this action has made it possible to increase the number of HMCC deployed to four, and will contribute to strengthening medical aid and assistance for the benefit of the disaster-stricken population, particularly with the approach of the winter period, indicated a press release from the General Staff of the FAR.

In Mejjat, this Medical-Surgical Field Hospital offers medical services 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, under the supervision of a medical staff composed of general practitioners and specialists and medical and paramedical staff in addition to the mobilization of a FAR social services team.

It offers care and consultations in various specialties, including general medicine and internal medicine, ophthalmology, pediatrics, gynecology, ENT, psychiatry, radiology, resuscitation and surgery reserved for cesarean deliveries and extreme emergencies.

This medical structure, which enabled a total of 980 services to be carried out in just two days (October 1 and 2), including 287 services on October 1 and 693 services on October 2 (356 women, 243 men, 94 children), in addition to a medical evacuation to the Avicennes Military Hospital in Marrakech, is equipped with an operating theater, a pharmacy, an analysis laboratory, hospitalization areas for men and women, in addition to a reception area for patients and administrative dependencies.

In statements to MAP, beneficiaries of the services provided by this hospital among the inhabitants of the areas affected by the earthquake in this province, expressed their deep gratitude to His Majesty King Mohammed VI and the FAR teams for the deployment of this HMCC, noting that this medical structure allowed them to benefit from various medical services, consultations, treatments as well as medicines.

They also highlighted the special interest and support they were able to benefit from within this health structure, which enabled them to benefit from care and adequate support.

It should be recalled that on the High Instructions of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, Supreme Commander and Chief of General Staff of the FAR, the Royal Armed Forces urgently deployed on the night of September 9, 2023, following the earthquake that struck the Al Haouz region, significant human and logistical resources, air and land, as well as specialized intervention modules based on Search and Rescue teams and an HMCC.

The necessary arrangements have been made at the level of the General Staff of the FAR and the Places of Arms of the Kingdom, in terms of liaison and coordination with the local authorities, indicated a press release from the General Staff of the FAR.

Intervention detachments, planes, helicopters, drones and engineering resources as well as logistics antennas are deployed on the scene in order to provide the necessary support to the various departments concerned and to the disaster-stricken populations, concludes the same source.
