Initiated by the Chamber of Crafts of the Fez-Meknes Region in partnership with the Ministry of Tourism, Crafts and the Social and Solidarity Economy, the Maison de l’Artisan, the Wilaya and the council of the Fez Region -Meknes, the Municipality of Meknes and the Prefectural Council of Meknes, this socio-economic event aims to promote and enhance the art of wood through the better identification of these trades to the public, by reintroducing a new dynamism in the field of marketing its products while allowing visitors to see the creativity of the artisans.
Speaking on this occasion, Director of Heritage Preservation, Innovation and Promotion at the Ministry of Tourism, Crafts and Social and Solidarity Economy, Moha Er Rich, stressed that the plans development of crafts in the Kingdom have attached particular importance to the element of innovation and renewal through openness to institutes and universities and the integration of the dimension of scientific research in the sector, as well as the strengthening of continuing education programs and product diversification, while ensuring product quality and protection.
Aware of the importance of protecting the heritage of crafts and continuous improvement of quality in the sector, Er Rich noted that the supervisory ministry has developed a strategy to adopt a quality strategy for the products of the sector. traditional craftsmanship through an integrated system combining a certain number of axes concerning research and innovation, design, standards, intellectual property, brands and certification as well as quality control.
For him, this integrated program aims to upgrade the sector as well as contribute to its national and international influence.
For his part, the president of the Chamber of Crafts of the Fez-Meknes region, Abdelmalek Boutyine, declared that this thematic fair concretizes the desire of the Chamber to resume its activities and relaunch the sector, despite the related difficulties. to the changing regional and international context, noting that this event comes after several years of forced interruption due to the COVID-19 pandemic and its consequences.
“Our motivation is to consolidate past successes and the positive trends observed in the number of visitors and the turnover achieved at the various Trade Shows that we have organized,” explains Boutyine.
The president of the Chamber of Crafts of the Fez-Meknes region pleaded in favor of the development of a global public policy dedicated to crafts. This should be in line with national plans, the Regional Development Program (PDR), as well as urban development plans. The objective, according to him, being to ensure better integration of the specific issues and needs of the craft sector in the territorial planning orientations at different scales.
Spread over more than 7,000 m2, the show has more than 160 stands dedicated to artisans, small and medium-sized businesses, professional cooperatives as well as players specializing in wood processing equipment.
This edition is made up of several spaces devoted in particular to marketing, the products of young winners from professional training establishments, craft professions, antique products and technical equipment for manufacturing wooden products.
