The wife of presidential candidate Donald Trump entered the venue with great applause on the final evening of the four-day spectacle, just before her husband’s speech.
The 54-year-old wore a red suit and took a seat in the stands, where Trump and his family had already been seen earlier. Among them was Trump’s daughter Ivanka, who had also been absent in recent days.
Did not play a role in the campaign
The relationship between Donald and Melania Trump has not only caused speculation over the years but has also led to some ridicule. Since leaving the White House in early 2021, Melania Trump has rarely appeared publicly, remaining largely silent and having played little role in her husband’s campaign so far.
She did not appear at the TV debate between Trump and US President Joe Biden three weeks ago. After the attack on Trump last weekend, Melania Trump voiced her concerns on the platform X, calling the attacker a “monster.” She urged Americans to reconcile.
The former First Lady was not on the speaker list for the final night of the convention. Trump’s sons Eric and Don Jr., as well as other family members, like Trump’s granddaughter Kai, played prominent roles at the convention in Milwaukee in recent days.
