Former Pope Benedict XVI died last Saturday after a prolonged illness. The only pope in its 600-year history to resign, he died at the Vatican after suffering from ill health.

Many world leaders, including US President Joe Biden and Brazilian President Lula, have condoled the death of the former Pope.

Pope Benedict XVI’s body lies in St. Peter’s Basilica in the Vatican for public veneration.

In this case, people were allowed to pay their respects from 9 am local time. People were waiting in a long queue outside the temple since early morning. Vatican officials said about 25,000 people paid their respects after 10 hours of mourning were allowed on the first day yesterday.

Officials also said that the funeral rites will be held on the morning of the 5th.
