Infrastructure and Transport Minister Christos Staikouras had a meeting with Oliver Luksic, German Deputy Minister of Transport, in charge of Freight Transport and Logistics, in Thessaloniki, today Sunday, on the occasion of the presence of the German official in TEFwhere this year the honored country is Germany.
In addition to ongoing cooperation to upgrade and deepen the bilateral relationship, including new areas of partnership, the priorities of the new Commission for the upcoming legislative period in the field of transport were discussed, with an emphasis on road safety, railway development and trade facilitation using connections with the ports of Thessaloniki, Kavala and Alexandroupolis.
The meeting was followed by the signing of a Memorandum of Cooperation between them OSE and German Railways, in which the foundations were laid for the transfer of know-how and partnerships for the development and upgrading of the European railway.
In particular, based on the Memorandum of Cooperation, DB E&C will provide consulting and training services to OSE, among others, in the following areas:
- Evaluation of the organization, procedures and structure of the OSE Educational Center.
- Evaluation of current educational programs, assessment of improvement measures and integration of new education methods.
- Implementation of Teacher Training programs.
- Implementation of know-how exchange and transfer program.
- Support in the field of digitization of railway systems and processes.
Chr. Staikouras: New field of cooperation between OSE and German Railways
The Minister of Infrastructure and Transport Christos Staikouras said: “A new field of cooperation between OSE and German Railways is being launched today, which aims to further improve the skills of the Agency’s human resources. We hope that with this initiative, another step is taken in the context of the coordinated effort made by the Ministry of Infrastructure and Transport, with the aim of strengthening the level of safety and upgrading the services and operation of the Greek railways”.
