BCS Food (Technical) Cadre Officers have given a memorandum to Chief Adviser to Interim Government to eliminate discrimination. To Muhammad Yunus.

Food officials claim that they are facing various types of internal discrimination and unfair treatment.

The memorandum signed by 26 Food Technical Group officials was submitted to the Food Ministry on Wednesday (August 14).

It states that the BCS Food (Technical) cadres are fully controlled by the Food (General) cadres. Due to which there has been discrimination in promotion. Technical cadres were not given any importance in policy making. Even in terms of recognition and respect, they are deprived. They also do not get the respect they deserve from subordinate officers and employees of the general group due to being discriminated against in various policy-making and administrative powers.

According to the memorandum, the promotion of technical cadre officers to the posts of Director General, Additional Director General and Director should be ensured subject to seniority, completion of tenure in feeder posts and merit. Apart from this, the posting of food officers at different levels of all departments involved in the operation of technical facilities including administration department, collection department, movement, storage and silo department should be ensured. Subject to the speedy completion of the construction of modern silos and other technical facilities, all related post creation activities should be completed. Apart from this, the decision to keep wheat in rice silos is canceled, and it is demanded to ensure fair representation of cadre officers at all policy-making stages related to food collection, food storage and silos.

It is said that there has been no proper development in food supply and preservation due to various discriminations. Post creation of newly constructed technical facilities is delayed. Postgola Government Modern Flour Mill was inaugurated in 2015 but it is yet to create posts. Besides, the construction of modern silos constructed under the Modern Food Storage Construction Project is also delayed.

The memorandum mentions that at present about two-thirds of the posts in silos are lying vacant due to reluctance of general cadre officers regarding silos and silo employees.
