Thiruvananthapuram: MS Viswanathan has composed music for 1,500 films in various languages. Born in 1928 to a Malayalam family in Elappully, near Palakkad, Kerala, he composed the first four songs for the 1953 film ‘Genoa’. Known as a singer, producer and character actor, MSV passed away in 2015. The Kerala government has decided to build a memorial hall for him and has allocated Rs 1 crore for the first phase. This hall is being built in Palakkad where he studied music.
