Menaggio Hires 12 Doctors, But They Won’t Go to Acute Care Wards

by time news

Menaggio Hospital, six calls published to hire 12 doctors, waiting for 24 new nurses.

This week in just one day Asst Lariana published a package of competitions to contract doctors to be assigned to the Menaggio facility. More specifically, a doctor of physical medicine and rehabilitation, a doctor expert in metabolic diseases and diabetology, a respiratory doctor, a cardiologist, two doctors of epidemiological hygiene and public health and six geriatricians.

The application

There is time to apply until October 3, all the references can be found on the institutional portal of Asst Lariana. Furthermore, on September 19 the competition for the 24 nurses to be assigned to the Medio Lario area closes, the terms are still open, but informally it is known that more applications have already arrived.

The hope is obviously to strengthen the staff of Erba Rinaldi, ensuring continuity to the garrison, in light of the protests of the past months.

However, reading the medical specialties sought by the tenders, it is clear that these are always white coats for the care of the most fragile patients. In fact, Asst Lariana has received a mandate from the Region to relaunch Erba Rinaldi as a home and community hospital, to follow the oldest and most at-risk patients also in the territory.

In fact, in July the top management of the former hospital company had already decided to hire a contingent of 53 health workers for Menaggio. This week’s competitions are the first open for doctors. In addition to nurses, the goal written down this summer was to find a total of six geriatricians, two hygienists, a cardiologist, a diabetologist, a pulmonologist, a physiatrist, three midwives, two physiotherapists, a speech therapist, four radiology technicians, four laboratory technicians, two health assistants and an occupational therapist.

Staff

The fate of the hospital for more acute care, such as the emergency room, surgery and anesthesia, has yet to be decided. Departments for which Asst Lariana has already made it known that it will not be able to find staff in any way. According to the former hospital company, it is impossible to hire so many health professionals for emergency care in the upper lake. The decision, promised soon, is entirely political. If the Region wants to keep these departments open, according to the hospital leaders, it will most likely be necessary to resort once again to paid doctors, the expensive external doctors sent by the cooperatives that the regional welfare system wanted to corner. If, on the other hand, part of the Menaggio hospital were to close its doors, then Asst Lariana has already considered transferring some complex structures to Sant’Anna in Como, in particular the plastic surgery and gastroenterology departments.
