The Vicelehendakari and Minister of Labor and Employment, Idoia Mendia, has requested the withdrawal of the ‘Practical guide on the incidence of competition in the labor market’, published by the Basque Competition Authority last May. Mendia points out that said guide questions collective bargaining, protected by an organic law such as the Workers’ Statute, in addition to not having taken into account in its preparation the social agents or the labor authority itself, which is what guarantees the compliance with labor law.
The vicelehendakari explains that the guide reveals and identifies behaviors that potentially limit effective competition in the labor market and gives a series of guidelines or recommendations so that economic operators avoid or, where appropriate, rectify such practices. The vicelehendakari expresses “discomfort, discrepancy and concern over these types of statements” that ignore labor legislation and also that relating to public procurement.
