jpnn.com – Minister of Youth and Sports of the Republic of Indonesia (Menpora RI) Dito Ariotedjo fully supports the arrival of United States basketball legend, Phil Handy, to Jakarta.

The plan is that the LA Lakers assistant coach will provide training to young basketball players and coaches in the country.

Menpora Dito hopes that Phil Handy’s arrival can further advance Indonesian basketball, which is currently on the right track.

It is noted that in several events such as the SEA Games and the Asian Games, the men’s and women’s national basketball teams were able to talk a lot.

Indonesia even won SEA Games gold in the 2021 (men’s national basketball team) and 2023 (women’s national basketball team) editions.

“I am very happy that today (yesterday) we had Phil Handy, he is a coach who is very global.”

“This is a blessing because it’s rare that NBA coaches are willing to provide knowledge and training to coaches in Indonesia,” said Menpora Dito.

Phil Handy himself admitted that he was happy to be able to go to Indonesia to share knowledge. Previously, the coach who was born on August 24 1971 together with Dallas Mavericks player Kyrie Irving conducted training in several countries in the Asian region.
