Birmingham: In the Commonwealth Games (CWG 2022), perhaps a complete Malayalee team will participate in the Men’s 4x400m relay for India this time. In the men’s 4x400m team, four out of five are Malayalis.
When India broke the Asian record in the men’s 4x400m relay at the Tokyo Olympics, all three players were Malayalis. Muhammad Anas, Noah Nirmal Tom and Amoj Jacob from Delhi. Arogya Rajeev, who was in the team then, is not in the team this time. Mohammad Ajmal, Noah Nirmal Tom and Amoj Jacob were earlier included in the Indian team in Birmingham. The injured Rajesh Ramesh was left out. The Malayalee group is ready when Mohammad Anas, who was included in the team, joins. Tamil Nadu’s Naganathan Pandey is fifth in the team. If the Malayalee players perform well in training, all four players will get a chance to take the field for India.
India clocked 3.00.25 in Tokyo. Fans are hoping that the Malayalee players can reach the podium at the Commonwealth Games. Meanwhile, Commonwealth Games athletics competitions will begin today. Nitendra Singh Rawat will compete for India in the men’s marathon starting at 1:30 pm.

Today, the second day of the Commonwealth Games, India enters with medal hopes. Meerabai Chanu and Sanket Sagar are India’s solid medal hopes in weightlifting. Meerabai’s competition in the 49 kg category will start at 8 pm Indian time. India is hoping for its first medal through Sanket Mahadev Sagar, which will land at 1:30 PM. In boxing, Olympic bronze medalist Lovlina Borgohain, Husamuddin Muhammad and Sanjeet will compete in the first round. It is also special that the Indian women will come out today aiming for their second consecutive win in women’s hockey.
