(ANSA) – AOSTA, 02 AUG – From January to July 31, there were 400 visits to the nursing triage of the Aosta Mental Health Center, which since May has received patients in a completely renovated area in via Guido Rey in Aosta. The data was provided by the director of the mental health department, Anna Maria Beoni, during the press conference to present the new premises to journalists, built thanks to Pnrr funds and which cost just under 100 thousand euros.
Inside the Mental Health Center there are ten specialist clinics that offer a service to patients for 100 hours a week. ”Since this year – he explains – we have reorganized the new Mental Health Center with the novelty of nursing triage. The user arrives with direct access without a doctor’s referral and our nurses who have been trained to welcome and know how to direct the patient in the most appropriate way. The triage is used to evaluate the person and understand what answers to give and this has meant that there are fewer visits to the emergency room”. He adds: ”The clinics in the area are also part of the Mental Health Center. The hours have been increased, it is open five days a week and these days we get up to 10 visits a day”.
In Valle d’Aosta there are 15 beds for psychiatric patients and 1,011 cases are treated per 100,000 inhabitants. The general director of the ASL Massimo Uberti underlined: ”The latest investigations on the psychiatric service in Valle d’Aosta place us among the five most virtuous Italian regions. We can say that the only negative parameter is that for compulsory health treatments (TSO), double the national average”. For director Uberti the phenomenon of suicides ”remains a problem but there are many factors to take into consideration”. For the regional health councilor Carlo Marzi ”The new mental health center represents and wants to be the first step to give important answers to citizens in a delicate field such as psychiatry. It is a cornerstone that is placed between territorial and hospital medicine”. (ANSA).
