Mercadona bought 578 million from Basque suppliers last year

Mercadona last year made purchases in Euskadi worth 578 million euros from 28 ‘Totaler Suppliers’ and 328 non-commercial and service providers with whom it collaborates in the Basque Country, a figure that exceeds 13 million euros, 2, 3% more than the previous year. In addition, the distribution group closed 2021 consolidating a workforce of more than 2,000 people in this autonomous community and invested more than 36 million euros, mainly destined to the expansion and improvement of its store network to underline its growth in the Basque Country.

These data were exposed yesterday by the Director of External Relations of Mercadona in the Basque Country, Gorka Díaz, to the Second Vice-Lehendakari and Minister of Labor and Employment of the Basque Government, Idoia Mendia, during a visit to the logistics block of the company in Vitoria, which began its activity in 2017 after an investment of 187 million euros and which today employs more than 600 people. A facility that will be expanded to meet the logistics needs of the supermarket chain.
