Mercadona has given, in the first semester of 2023, 138.2 tons of food and basic necessities to 24 organizations and social entities in the Girona counties with which he collaborates.
During the first half of the year, the supermarket chain has given in Catalonia 1,731 tons of food to 154 organizations. Apart from Girona, of these entities, 96 correspond to the regions of Barcelona (1,264 tons donated), 24 to those of Tarragona (260.3 tons), 2 and 10 to those of Lleida (68.6 tons), according to the company reported yesterday in a statement.
In Spain as a whole, Mercadona has given more than 10,500 tons of these products since the beginning of the year and has “expanded the network of social entities” with which he collaborates, both in Spain and Portugal.
These donations are equivalent, according to the company, to 174,200 shopping carts and have been allocated to 650 social entities, including 140 new organizations with which it has “considerably improved the structuring of the aid” it offers.
Mercadona has framed this action in its Social Responsibility Plan, which “takes care of the social and ethical component through different sustainable lines of action” which, for the company, reinforce the commitment to shared growth.
