by time news

Obviously, Chelsea wants to build on the long term with Benoît Badiashile. The London club has announced the signing for seven and a half years, until 2030, of the now ex-central defender of AS Monaco. The amount of the transfer was not disclosed but, according to The Athletic, the Blues were ready to shell out nearly 40 million euros to secure the services of the French international.

Badiashile leaves his training club, with which he played 135 games, three months after his debut in the jersey of the France team. Regular with the Espoirs, he was invited by Didier Deschamps at the end of September and was entitled to two starts against Austria (2-0) and Denmark (0-2). On the other hand, the coach preferred Axel Disasi to him for the World Cup in Qatar.

“I’m very happy to be here at Chelsea,” he told the club’s website. I am very excited to start playing for this club. I can’t wait to see the fans and start playing in the best league in the world. “The central back actually invites himself into a high championship where the Londoners only appear in tenth position.

At the Blues, the left-hander will face strong competition, made up of Kalidou Koulibaly, Thiago Silva or Wesley Fofana, when the former Stéphanois will be available again. Arrived during the season, Graham Potter should appreciate Badiashile’s ability to break the lines on the restart. The England coach likes his teams to come out short to progress towards goal. Nevertheless, the formula is not yet working at Chelsea after a promising start.
