Mercedes’ Formula 1 Abu Dhabi Grand Prix protests rejected

The International Automobile Federation (FIA) has rejected Mercedes’ protests against the results of the last round of the Formula 1 World Championship. The team intends to appeal this decision. During the race, Red Bull driver Max Verstappen beat Lewis Hamilton from Mercedes to become the champion.

The rejection of the protest was announced by Formula 1 in Twitter… Mercedes has 72 hours to appeal this decision. The team reported to Twitterthat has already sent a notice of intent to challenge the decision of the FIA.

Mercedes believes that the race result should be counted on the penultimate lap. The team also filed a protest against an attempt to overtake Hamilton’s car by Verstappen while the safety car was on the track.

Max Verstappen and Lewis Hamilton had the same number of points before the final Grand Prix. At the end of the championship, Verstappen scored 395.5 points in the overall standings and became the champion for the first time. The constructors’ Cup went to Mercedes for the eighth time in a row with 617.5 points.
