The official representative of Mercedes-Benz in the Russian market, Mercedes-Benz Rus, is recalling 1,082 S-Class vehicles (type 223) sold in 2021, according to the Rosstandart website.
As stated in the statement, due to the nature of the software, the front seat passenger recognition unit may be deactivated after the engine is turned off. “In this case, in the event of an accident with the possible deployment of an airbag, the risk of injury to the front passenger will increase,” the report says.
The department noted that the company will inform owners of vehicles subject to recall about the need to provide the vehicle to the nearest dealership for repair work. All work will be carried out free of charge for owners.
At the end of December 2021, it became known that Toyota Motor, the official representative of Toyota in the Russian market, will recall 9916 Toyota Venza vehicles due to a possible defect in the airbag sensor in the driver’s door. Then Rosstandart explained that due to a possible problem with the sensor wires of the passive safety system, in certain types of collision, the side airbags on the driver’s side may not open.
