Braunschweig/Vienna – In the Federal Republic of Germany, opposition leader Friedrich Merz (CDU) has proposed a joint working group for a “Germany Pact on Migration” to Chancellor Olaf Scholz (SPD). “We now need decisive and joint action,” says a letter from the CDU leader to Scholz. Together with CSU regional group leader Alexander Dobrindt, he is offering “a small, equal negotiating group” made up of the government and the Union faction. He has not yet received an answer to the suggestions he presented to the Chancellor during a meeting between state representatives and Scholz on Friday a week ago. The letter is available to the Reuters news agency.
