Doha: The Qatar University campus will host Lionel Messi and his team as they arrive in Qatar with the dream of winning the World Cup. Accommodation and training are arranged on campus.
Copa America champions Argentina will arrive in Qatar on November 21, a week before the Kickoff World Cup. Subsequently, the team members will be on the Qatar University campus for training and accommodation, including Lionel Messi and Di Maria.
An official delegation from the Argentine Football Federation recently visited Qatar as part of a move to secure accommodation. After completing their examination, the university campus was selected as the base camp of the team. The group returned satisfied with the visit. Accommodation for team members and staff can be utilized using facilities including hostel.
As a place to stay together for more than a month, there will also be some renovations on campus to give team members a nostalgic experience. The campus will be modified to allow players to experience both Argentina and home.
‘During the World Cup, the Argentine team members will be staying on the Qatar University campus. Sleep and practice on the sidelines, ‘said Argentina coach Lionel Scaloni. It is very convenient to have training and accommodation in one place. “There is no need to travel by bus for training and so on. Players get more time to relax,” Scaloni said.
All the teams that have qualified for the World Cup are currently in the process of selecting a team base camp. Qatar has set up about 40 base camps with training venues and hotels for the election. One week ago, the Croatian Football Federation team visited the Dusit Hotel and the Al Gharafa Training Ground. Indications are that this is also the team’s first consideration.
