The American digital giant Meta, the company that owns Facebook and Instagram, launched its Threads social network this Thursday in the European Union (EU), where it was not available until now, announced the group’s president, Mark Zuckerberg.

Threads is a text version derived from Instagram and Meta aims to turn it into a real and competitive alternative to the X network (formerly Twitter).

“Today we open Thread to more countries in Europe. Everyone is welcome,” Zuckerberg said in a message in the application itself.

Zuckerberg and the owner of X, Elon Musk, have had several confrontations on social networks, and the former even proposed a fight to resolve differences with fists.

The release of Threads in July seemed to deepen the personal enmity between the two.

On that occasion, Zuckerberg assured that more than 30 million people had downloaded the Threads application on their mobile phones in a few hours after its launch in the United States.

Despite the increase in user numbers, Meta continues with the launch of Threads, a network that in the midst of the madness for its launch managed to hook 49.3 million Android users, but by August 7 it dropped to 10 ,3 millions.
