Meta, previously known as Facebook, is cutting the prices for its Quest 2 virtual reality glasses by $50. The price of the 128 GB version dropped from $299 to $249, while the price of the 256 GB version dropped from $349 to $299. This price cut comes several months after the company launched the third version of its virtual reality glasses.

The company initially sold the glasses at these reduced prices during Black Friday, but has now made the decision to make the prices permanent. In addition to the price cut on the glasses, Meta is also offering many Quest 2 accessories at lower prices.

This move comes after Meta had raised the prices of the Quest 2 in July 2022 by $100, increasing the price from $299.99 to $399.99. However, in June 2023, after the company announced the Quest 3 for the first time, it dropped the prices back down to sell more units. The lower price of the Quest 2 may entice more people to purchase the older version instead of the Quest 3, which is expected to start at $500.
