Back to Arte-19 | Virus Virtual Reality Game, the three-year festival – entirely free – that investigates the connection between art and technology, between traditional and innovative languages, between distance and union. Also in this second edition we play between real and virtual, between virus and antidote, between live performance and new media art. The project, promoted by Roma Culture, is the winner of the Roman Summer 2020-2021-2022 public notice curated by the Cultural Activities Department.

On Friday 3 and Saturday 4 December, from 9 pm to 11.30 pm, the public will be hosted “in presence” in the spaces of Fusolab 2.0 in Viale della Bella Villa 94, in Rome, while the artists will be connected online via giant screens and reality viewers virtual. No reservation or entrance ticket is required, which will however be limited in order to comply with all the necessary preventive measures.

The artistic meta-performances – accessible, engaging and interactive – mix traditional arts with new media art, ranging from Digital Theater live on Twitch to Audio Visual Performance in 3D, passing through the Virtual Museum and the Interactive Theater with 360 virtual viewers ° up to the cinema that interacts with the public thanks to artificial intelligence and finally to the forays of graffiti art on virtual walls. In the rich program of this 2.0 edition there will be workshops, on Saturday, and the lecture-panel “Game Art: the new paradigms of art” with Neoludica, which will be held on Sunday 5 December from 17 to 18.30.

Art-19 | Virus Virtual Reality Game also this year is “recruiting” its participants on the revolution.one platform, where last week more than 250 players have already chosen battle name and brigade they belong to. Only in this way will it be possible to obtain the VVR PASS, with which it will be possible to access “the secret base of the Resistance, the Fuso-Society”, or the headquarters of the Fusolab. The mission of the game for this year is precisely to meet again live to be able to attend the performances of the remotely connected inmate artists and understand, overcoming a series of tests, how to be able to free, all together, those who have already been detained. one year because it was considered the cause of the spread of the “Arte-19” virus.

The protagonist of the preview of the festival is precisely a recluse artist, in an artistic performance that plays between fiction and hyper-realism, between cruelty and comedy, between real and virtual. From 10 in the morning of 1 December to 10 in the morning of 3 December the actor Tiziano Scrocca (“On my skin”, “If God wants”, “The Pills”) with the actress Manuela Parodi (texts by Massimiliano Ciarrocca), he will remain imprisoned for 48 hours in a cell recreated inside the Fusolab, shot by cameras that will share the images in live streaming on the Twitch platform. To highlight the intersection between theater, gaming and virtual reality, the public will be able to interact with the artist through live chat and the performance will be “disturbed” by VR viewers that will project the actor into the virtual world hacked by the “resistant” they are looking for. to save him. On 3 and 4 December, during the festival, the final act will come in which the public will free the imprisoned artist with a collective action and the freed actor will recite a monologue in virtual reality.

Tiziano Scrocca and Manuela Parodi, Untilted_02.mvp, Discord Virtuoso Jam, MOR, Pietro Gagliano, Mara Oscar Cassiani, Mimosa Campironi and Teatro Metastasio, Lady Nina / Orghone / Daniele Tozzi / Shine and Fusolart are the artists chosen for this 2021 edition by the curators Valentina Tanni, Roberto Di Maio and Gianluca Del Gobbo. Gamification involves the public in an immersive experience that allows to fill, where possible, the too many empty spaces left by the pandemic while respecting the necessary distances.
