Meteorologists in Primorye reported the theft of a complex to monitor the water level

by time news

Unknown persons in the Primorsky Territory stole the control and measuring equipment of the hydrological complex used to monitor the water level on the Naumovka River, Primhydromet said. The incident, according to meteorologists, posed a threat to the safety of the residents of the entire Krasnoarmeisky district. On the fact of theft, a statement was filed with the police.

The stolen equipment was located near the village of Novopokrovka. “Due to the lack of equipment, the heads of municipalities, specialists from Primhydromet, Civil Defense and Emergencies, the Ministry of Emergencies lost the ability to monitor the development of rain floods in a continuous mode, which limited the possibility of early warning of residents of the Krasnoarmeisky District,” Primhydromet said on Instagram.

The network of automated hydrological posts allows collecting data with high accuracy and in real time, which makes it possible to make early forecasts, the specialists of Primhydromet explained. The stolen equipment “is of no value if used for other purposes, as it is made of modern materials that cannot be handed over at scrap metal collection points,” the agency said.

A storm warning was announced the day before in Primorye. According to Primhydromet, on most rivers, the water level is expected to rise up to 1 m, and in some areas, sharp rises of water up to 1.3 m are possible.
