Metering system for regular taxis in Oman

Oman’s orange and white taxis are getting metered. The Ministry of Transport has announced that the procedures for introducing metered taxis have been completed and will be implemented in the coming months.

Metered fares will not be applicable to taxi companies like O Taxi, Uber, Muwasalat Taxi, Airport Taxi etc. There have been many attempts to introduce a meter system in Oman, but they have not been able to implement it. The meter system was not implemented due to several reasons, including the topography of Oman. The vast majority of taxi passengers in Oman travel by line taxis.
