Metro Barcelona will allocate 7.6 million euros of European funds to the renewal of trains

This item is included in the European aid of 33 million euros that have been received and that will be allocated to three projects to decarbonise urban centers and promote sustainable mobility. One of them is the renovation of trains to improve the metro service and increase its frequency of passage, to which 7.6 million euros will be dedicated from this Next Generation fund.

This boost to urban transport coincides with an increase in demand for the Barcelona Metro. The network recorded April the days with the most validations in its history. On April 27, it reached its second highest weekday travel record in less than seven days, with 1,530,000 trips. The other record was achieved on April 21, with 1,523,900 tickets on its eight lines (see news).
