The Metro started at dawn on Tuesday, May 9, another service for the benefit of passengers, with the installation of the platform door system at Pedro II station, on Line 3-Red. In addition to increasing passenger safety, this equipment makes it possible to reduce the number of interferences that jeopardize the scheduled interval of circulation between trains.

The implementation of this important safety equipment will begin on the departure platform towards Corinthians-Itaquera. The services will only be carried out in the early hours, outside the opening hours of the stations, so that there is no interruption in the circulation of trains.

The forecast is that the assembly of the door structures of the Pedro II station will be completed in June this year.

Metrô works to install platform doors in all stations, in order to further improve the transport that received for the sixth consecutive time the award for “Best Public Service” in the city of São Paulo.

Currently, in the system operated by the Metro, all stations on Line 15-Silver, two stations on Line 1-Blue (Jabaquara and Tucuruvi), four stations on Line 2-Green (Vila Prudente, Tamanduateí, Sacomã and Vila Madalena) and one station on Line 3-Red (Vila Matilde) they have the platform doors in operation. At the Palmeiras-Barra Funda, Belém and Bresser-Mooca stations, on Line 3-Red, the equipment is already installed, awaiting completion of the tests before starting operations.
