According to mental health specialists, in December the suicide rate increases due to emotional, social factors y environmental; a time that for some is synonymous with unity, for others it represents isolation and hopelessness, therefore, the Metro reinforced the Save Lives program through the training of 250 police.
He Collective Transportation System (STC) explained that, within the framework of actions to increase better police practices within the network and prevent suicide, in coordination with the Institute for Addiction Care and Prevention (IAPA), provides training to 250 elements of the Auxiliary Police and the Banking and Industrial Police, who will replicate what they learned with the 5,850 uniformed officers who guard the body.

The general director of Metro, Guillermo Calderónpointed out that the objective is to sensitize police personnel to approach these cases of emotional crisis or probable intoxication.
The director of IAPA, Amaya Ordorika, recognized the openness to carry out preventive actions and highlighted that the training will allow strengthening mental health actions and proper channeling at any time.
In addition, he appreciated the support to be able to transfer this information to the elements of each police corporation, which support the metro.
Complete training
In this sense, the person in charge of the program Let’s Save Lives, Rocío Alhin Padillarecalled that this course will have two blocks, the first will talk about suicide and how to identify warning signs in people’s behavior.
In the next block, the specialists of the Institute for Addiction Care and Prevention capital will inform about the problem of the consumption of psychoactive substances, their classification and effects.

In addition, they will address human rights issues and will be instructed on how to approach a person with problematic substance use, their first aid, as well as some recommendations for approaching and the importance of referral.
In 2016, the body implemented the program Let’s save lives, in order to provide support and assistance to prevent, deter and avoid the occurrence of deaths self-inflicted in the orange worm facilities, which has managed to contain 768 people with emotional crisis.
The STC placed traveling modules to offer mental health counseling to users. From December 10 to 19, they will attend Niño Héroes e Indios Verdes, of the Metro line 3. Likewise, it has a permanent module at the Juárez station on that same line.
