## Public Transport⁢ Expansion in Laives,‌ Italy

James/Lives. A metrobus is ⁢set to connect Laives to Bolzano, utilizing an intelligent traffic light system controlled by an algorithm. Additionally, the new San Giacomo train station will feature a dedicated underpass ⁣for buses, leading to ⁣the airport and beyond. “We need to ‌reduce private car‌ traffic in Bassa Atesina and⁢ Laives towards Bolzano to improve traffic flow,” stated ‍provincial councilor Daniel Alfreider. “Thanks to the metrobus, passengers can‌ reach ⁢San Giacomo by train and then transfer to bus within the capital.” In San Giacomo, ‌a new underpass is being ‌constructed specifically for buses, with preferential lanes facilitating ⁤travel‍ through the industrial area of Bolzano. Further assessments are underway⁣ in via⁢ Einstein, with initial optimism.

For the new Laives council, the⁣ metrobus is ⁣a top priority.‍ Councilor Paolo Zenorini, who has been working on‍ the project for several weeks, emphasized collaboration‌ with the Province. “The plan is‌ to ‍start⁣ from the ⁣industrial area south of Laives. Bus stops will need adjustments, as seen in Oltradige. By autumn, we expect to finalize the project plan in collaboration with the Province.” No preferential lanes are planned within the municipal area‌ of Laives. “Space is limited,” ‌explained the councilor. “However, we will implement an intelligent traffic ⁣light system controlled ‌by an algorithm to prioritize buses.” Stops are ⁤likely to be established in via ‌Kennedy, Pineta, and San Giacomo. These plans‌ will‌ be incorporated into the Pums, Laives’ sustainable ‌mobility plan, following the example of Bolzano.

Estimated timetable and costs.

Planning for the project is estimated to take a year, with completion expected in approximately two years. The anticipated cost ⁢range is between 40 and 50 million euros. “These infrastructure works are essential,” concluded provincial councilor⁢ Alfreider.
