Mexfam celebrates the creation of soap operas as a means for social change

Within the framework of World Day for the Prevention of Unplanned Pregnancy in Adolescents on September 26 and the premiere of the soap opera “Parents by Convenience” the Mexican Foundation for Family Planning (Mexfam) He held a press conference talking about the social issues that this television product will touch on.

Various experts belonging to social organizations, as well as members of the production and writers of the soap opera, met in the south of the capital to talk about the impact they seek to have within Mexican society by talking about gender violence, teenage pregnancy and infections. and sexually transmitted diseases (STDs).

“The work of the production, especially with the theme of Teenage Pregnancy, is that it seeks a cultural change, and how do you change the culture? with means and school mainly,” said Gabriela Rodríguez, general secretary of the National Population Council (Conapo).

“Seven out of ten women in our country have suffered violence of some kind (psychological, sexual, etc.), highlighting Edomex, CDMX and Querétaro (…) women are afraid to report it due to the invisibility of the issue and impunity,” Eugenia López, regional director in the Americas and the Caribbean of the IPPF.

At the end of the event, Mexfam reminded the public that the premiere of “Papás ​​por Conveniencia” will be next October 21 on the screens of Televisa.
