Mexican expert highlights Morocco’s crucial role in the fight against terrorism
Mexico – Morocco plays a crucial role in the fight against terrorism and extremism at the international level, stressed Mexican expert Pedro de la Vega.
In a statement to MAP, Mr. de la Vega indicated that the recent operations during which the Moroccan authorities arrested extremists affiliated with Daesh attest to Morocco’s leadership and its important role in the fight against terrorism, which is welcomed by the entire international community, including Latin America.
The academic noted that the approach adopted by the Kingdom in this area integrates the social dimension and a pillar of development, as well as the promotion of a culture of tolerance and moderation.
De la Vega added that Morocco’s strategy also reflects the conviction that an effective fight against extremism and terrorism requires, in addition to adopting a security approach, the implementation of economic and social inclusion and the establishment of religious and civic education.
He also stressed that the tangible results of the proactive policy pursued by Morocco in the fight against terrorism have allowed the dismantling of numerous terrorist cells, which makes the Kingdom a serious and essential partner in this area.
