The head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (SRE), Alicia Barcenareported that there are Mexicans affected by a truck accident in Machu Picchu, Peru.
“A regrettable accident in #MachuPichu Peru in which Mexican people were affected. Our @EmbaMexPeru in Lima and our consular staff are already aware and will activate protection and assistance protocols,” she wrote on her X account.

Videos of a tourist bus overturning in that area of Peru were posted on social media, with preliminary reports indicating that most of the passengers were of Mexican nationality.

So far, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs has only activated emergency and communication protocols, but further details of the accident are unknown.
According to local media reports, the accident was serious and the tourists suffered injuries that required emergency hospitalization, but the area is difficult to access and there are not enough equipment or doctors.
