The Mexican press highlights the work being done by coach Gerardo Espinoza, who arrived at Sociedad Deportiva Aucas last December and in a few months has changed his face to position him as the leader of this tournament.
With six games played, Sociedad Deportiva Aucas leads the Ecuadorian Serie A standings by adding 13 units, ahead of Independiente and Emelec, who have 12 each.
Espinoza, the first Mexican to direct in Ecuador, spoke with RÉCORD about his experience in the South American country and his future goals.
“It is something different from what we have experienced for so many years, it is another culture, it is another type of characters, it is learning from other situations, I want to continue growing.
“I am crazy about work, I dream of directing in the First Division and for my team to transmit that energy for playing, to enjoy having the ball and when I lose it to be aggressive to take it away, to win games, I want to achieve all that with this team,” he declared.
GERARDO ESPINOZA DREAMS OF DIRECTING IN LIGA MX, MLS AND EUROPE
Gerardo Espinoza, who was tied to direct Puebla last year, but finally could not make his arrival to the camotero team because the regulations prevented him from doing so after being coach of the Mexican Under-23 National Team in the same semester, made it clear who dreams of directing in Liga MX.
“I am someone who left home at the age of 13 and started looking for new situations, to do something with life and since then I have not stopped, I have always been involved in football, at certain moments in my life I have wanted to leave it. That’s also true, because it’s exhausting, it’s adrenaline every day, changes. You are missing out on many family situations, opening a new path, not hoping to direct in Mexico,” he commented.
“Yes, of course I would like to direct, I have many markets that I would love to be in, Brazil, the United States, Europe, that is gaining,” he argued.
DIFFERENCES BETWEEN ECUADOR FOOTBALL AND THE MX LEAGUE
Asked about the differences between Ecuadorian and Mexican soccer, Gerardo Espinoza said that the Mexican player is more tactical.
“Talking about differences is complicated, there are many situations, Mexico is more tactical, more physical, more organized, here the Ecuadorian player has a lot of physical power, that makes him stand out too much, his football is growing and he has a lot of room ahead of him,” he indicated. .
