Mexican ports registered a movement of more than 144 million tons of cargo in the first half of the year, which represents an increase of 7.8% compared to the same period of the previous year. This data reflects the country’s economic and commercial recovery after the crisis caused by the COVID-19 pandemic.

Among the main ports that have contributed to this growth are Manzanillo, Lázaro Cárdenas, Veracruz, Altamira and Ensenada, which together moved 77.5% of the total national cargo. These ports stand out for their capacity to handle various types of merchandise, such as containers, bulk, vehicles and oil products.

Mexico’s ports and terminals are a key factor for the economic development and social of the country, since they facilitate foreign trade with more than 145 countries. In addition, they generate direct and indirect jobs, boost tourism and encourage investment in infrastructure and technology.

Therefore, it is important that actions continue to be strengthened to improve the competitiveness, safety and sustainability of Mexico’s ports and terminals, as well as their integration with transportation and logistics networks.
