by time news

Mexican President Andrés Manuel Lopez Obrador, speaking to reporters, told how he once appealed to Donald Trump, who served as President of the United States, with a motion to drop charges against WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange.

The Mexican leader said that he sent his request to the White House in writing, but received no response.

“Assange is sick, and if he were allowed to seek asylum in any country … including Mexico, it would be a manifestation of solidarity,” said Lopez Obrador.
