The Archdiocese of Hermosillo and the Mexican rapper Alemán came out to publicly apologize to the indignation of the Catholic parishioner because a priest authorized the urban artist to record a video in a church where he distributed marijuana cigarettes as if they were hosts from the sacrament of communion, in Sonora, in northwestern Mexico.

Father Luis Armando González Torres, from the Guadalupano Sanctuary in Hermosillo, authorized rapper Alemán to record the video for his next single from the altar of the church, dressed in a purple tunic like priests wear at Easter time.

The recording took place this week, in fact the rapper Alemán recorded scenes in more than one church in Hermosillo, since the video also had locations on the esplanade of the Capilla del Carmen, in the Historic Center of the capital of Sonora.

This video is to offer an apology to all those people who came to feel offended, (…) an apology to Father Luis Armando who was the one who threw the strike on us (he did the favor) to put together this video. It is a super positive song that I know you will like, especially for the entire community of the Guadalupano Sanctuary with much respect and love, “said the rapper Alemán in a video posted on social networks.

It was the priest Luis González Torres himself who acknowledged that he authorized Alemán to record his video in the church of the Guadalupano Sanctuary.

“Sometimes on social networks it is taken out of context, although what is circulating is when Alemán is at the altar there recording, it was at that precise moment that I reminded him that he had authorized them to use the church but that they could not go up to the altar , they immediately got off and continued the recording”, assured the parish priest.

The priest said that the Holy One was not in the place when the video was recorded because he moved towards a reserved chapel and that he did not lend the rapper liturgical clothing either, because he brought his own clothing.

González said that Alemán explained to him what the song was about and that he also justified himself, assuring that many series and movies are recorded in churches; In addition, the faithful bring musical groups and even mariachis to weddings, baptisms and first communions, as well as in serenades to the Virgin of Guadalupe or other saints.

The image that has caused the most outrage on social networks is when the German rapper distributes what are apparently marijuana cigarettes to young people in line as when Catholic parishioners line up to receive the sacrament of communion.

The Archdiocese of Hermosillo published a statement asking for respect and devotion to sacred sites:

We recognize that it was acted without ill will and intention, but recklesslyTherefore, Archbishop Ruy Rendón Leal, and our entire Presbytery, offer a sincere apology to all the People of God of our Archdiocese and to all those people who felt wronged in their faith, we assume and reiterate the commitment to watch over and care for , that these acts are not repeated in our Church ”, assured the diocese.

The Catholic representation in Sonora called on the Christian flock to pray as a form of reparation for those desecrated places of worship.
