Just a few weeks before the first anniversary of his return, on December 26, the commercial-military airline Mexican Aviation announced that It will stop operating eight of its routes.
According to information from one of the airline’s official sites, confirmed through its Call Center, flights to Acapulco, Campeche, Guadalajara, Ixtapa, Nuevo Laredo, Puerto Vallarta, Uruapan and Villahermosa They will stop operating as of today, offering a refund to those passengers who had reservations to those destinations.

At the close of this edition, the mexican airline had not given explanations for the closure of these routes; However, when selecting any of the aforementioned destinations, a notice appears warning that these routes will no longer be available.
According to staff Call Centerthere is no date to resume the routes, so it is unknown if the measure will be temporary or definitive.
Just last December 26, President Claudia Sheinbaum, together with General Leobardo Ávila Bojorquez, director of Mexicana de Aviación, celebrated the first anniversary of the airline’s return to the skies.
Renovations
During the event it was mentioned that, last year, about 382 thousand 11 passengers were able to fly to various destinations within the Republic. The acquisition of a new fleet of 20 Embraer E2 aircraft was also announced, which will arrive between this year and 2027.
“This year, Mexicana has not only reached 18 destinations; By carrying out 7,217 flights, we shortened the distance of more than 6 million kilometers so that 382,011 families could join, while they accompanied us during 9,367 flight hours in our Mexican airspace,” the airline reported on that same date.
However, with the reduction of routes, Mexicana’s destinations will be reduced from 18 to just 10.
Declared bankrupt in 2014, Mexicana de Aviación was rescued in 2023, during the six-year term of President Andrés Manuel López Obrador, operating at its inauguration with military aircraft transferred by the National Defense.

main destinations, without effects
The routes with the highest number of Mexicana de Aviación passengers are not among the affected destinations, these being Tulum, Tijuana, Mérida, Cd. Ixtepec and Cd. Victoria.
Last October, Mexicana Cargo Services began operating, accumulating more than 110 tons transported at the end of the year; The airline projected that the amount of cargo would increase in 2025, with the opening of service in the cities of Guadalajara, Merida, San José del Cabo and Tulum.
However, Guadalajara is among the passenger routes canceled by the commercial-military airline.
