The National Institute of Rehabilitation “Luis Guillermo Ibarra Ibarra” (INRLGII) donated a source code to the Regional High Specialty Hospital of the Yucatan Peninsula (HRAEPY). The main feature of this computer system is that manages hospital information to improve the quality of patient care.
Through the signing of the amending agreement to the specific collaboration agreement that both instances signed in 2012, the HRAEPY will implement the automated hospital information system. It will serve as support for medical, nursing and administrative staff, as well as patients. In addition, it will be a fundamental statistical tool for decision-making, research and education.
How does it work?
At the agreement signing ceremony, the general director of INRGLII, Carlos Javier Pineda Villasenor, highlighted that this system was developed in 1994 by staff from the institute. Since then it has been optimized, modernized and improved, so it exceeds commercial systems.
The general director of the HRAEPY, Alfredo Jesus Medina Ocampoindicated that, as a highly specialized hospital, this agreement motivates them to take advantage of technology so that doctors have better work tools, for the benefit of users.
When talking about him Automated Hospital Information System (SAIH), the deputy director of Information and Communication Technologies of the INRLGII, María de Lourdes Zaldívar Martínez, explained that it began its operation 29 years ago. It is currently made up of 14 modules, the central one being Electronic Clinical Record.
Modules that make it up
The 14 modules refer to: management of medical agendas, emergency admission, first and subsequent external consultation, social work, clinical file; hospital admission, nursing, operating rooms, pharmacy, biostatistics and management, among others.
It also has interfaces on the different systems such as audiology, imaging, blood bank and laboratory. The results of all the studies are incorporated into the electronic clinical record so that the treating physician has online access to the information.
The specialist announced that the interface in audiology is being developed. The results of these studies will also be directly incorporated into the Electronic Clinical Record.
It is a friendly system that meets the Law on Protection of Personal Data in Possession of Obligated Subjects; NOM-002 and NOM-004 on registered medical notes. Likewise, it has incorporated the International Catalog of Diseases, the Catalog of Surgical Procedures and the Catalog of the International Classification of Disability and Health Functioning.
He pointed out that the SAIH has received two recognitions from the Ministry of Public Function (SFP). One for the implementation of the Electronic Medical Record and another for the improvement of first-time outpatient consultation.
He specified that the INRLGII also has technological information agreements with the Jalisco Ministry of Health, the “Ignacio Chávez” National Institute of Cardiology, the “Federico Gómez” Children’s Hospital of Mexico, the Querétaro Health Services, the Psychiatric Care Services (SAP) and the Social Security Institute of the State of Mexico and Municipalities (ISSEMyM).
