Mexico and Ghana exchange rice and cocoa

Both countries agreed to work on expanding agri-food trade in crops. cocoa, rice and other cereals, coconut, cassava y corn, with which they seek to strengthen food security, rural development and the generation of economic opportunities, reported the Secretary of Agriculture.

He highlighted that they are analyzing promoting a memorandum of understanding of agri-food cooperation.

The general coordinator of International Agricultural Affairs, Lourdes Cruz Trinidadand the ambassador of Ghana in Mexico, Hajia Alima Mahamaheld a meeting in which the integration of a working group was agreed, aimed at expanding agricultural development cooperation between both nations.

Mexico has institutions dedicated to cocoa research and they are focused on improving productivity, quality, disease resistance, development of new varieties and added value. Both nations established diplomatic relations in 1961.
